Sitting on the land: monthly outdoor practice
Once a month we sit outside in a different New Mexico landscape, a zendo without walls. Each gathering pairs zazen with attention to the ecology of the place: its water, its forests, its fire history, and the communities that depend on it.

What to bring outdoors
- Something to sit on: a cushion, mat, or small folding stool
- Warm layers, a hat, and gloves; mornings at elevation can be cold
- Water and sun protection
Weather
Normally we sit no matter what the weather. Rain, wind, and cold are part of practicing outdoors. But we don’t want anyone traveling in snow or when there is a risk of severe weather. If weather prevents us from sitting, we will post an announcement on the website.
